An active community organizer, he serves on the Governor\u2019s Black Belt Action Commission as the vice chair of its Community Development Committee, chairs the Adult Education Committee for the Region 7 Workforce Development Council, and served on the state\u2019s Youth Employment Task Force. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Alabama A &#038; M University and completed numerous graduate courses in the Master of Business Administration program at Auburn University at Montgomery. Perkins is a graduate of Leadership Birmingham, Leadership Selma, and Leadership Alabama.\n<br>\nPerkins\u2019 leadership is noteworthy and highly valued locally, nationally and internationally by his peers. The Alabama Conference of Black Mayors elected Perkins to serve as president during their 2022 annual meeting. During Perkins previous term as mayor, his peers elected him to serve as: 1) President of the National Conference of Black Mayors, a national organization representing over 650 African American Mayors across the United States; 2) Director on the National League of Cities Board, a national organization representing cities and towns across the nation in Washington DC; and 3) Vice President for Trade of the World Conference of Mayors., an international organization collaborating with mayors in Caribbean and Africa. After graduating from Alabama A&amp;M University, I was employed with Pioneer Electric, REA as the Engineer for Greenville, AL and Selma, AL office. I maintained the Power Station with over 2,100 miles of power lines. I obtained many certifications from Purdue University and National Rural Electrification Association with over 20 years of serving the small rural communities. After moving to a new location, my career furthered to Smartfit Stone Container for 14 years located in Hope Hull, AL. Currently, I am serving as District Director for Alabama Volunteer Fire Department and President of Wilcox County Association (VFD). I served on many boards such as Wilcox 911, Chamber Commerce, and Wilcox County Development Authority (WICDA). I am a business owner of a trucking company and I assist in operating the family farms which consist of rasing beef cattle and baling hay. I am the father of three children and seven grandchildren. She is married to Michael Boone, and they have three amazing children; JaMicheal Boone, Destiny Wilson, and Lawanda Chambers. She graduated from Calhoun High<br \/>School in Letohatchee, Alabama in 1992 and Alabama State University in 2005 with a Bachelors in Collaborative Education. Serving God is such a great part of her life! She is a member of Greater New Faith Baptist Church, Fort Deposit, Alabama, where serving as the clerk, assistant youth department advisor, and being a part of the praise and worship team are her favorite things to do. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 2:4. She has succeeded in many great things in life! She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,<br \/>Inc.<br \/>After graduating and receiving her education, Jacqulyn Davison-Boone became dedicated to inspiring children across Lowndes County. For the past 18 years, Mrs. Boone has been a great educator with the Lowndes County Board of Education, and she continues to teach and love the children of Lowndes County Middle School and inspire them to reach their dreams. She is devoted to Lowndes Middle School, where she serves in several departments.<\/p><p>Jacqulyn has also devoted her life to politics, justice, and serving others. She is the youngest female elected to serve on the city council for four terms. During her time, she served as the Liaison for the Fort Deposit Police Department, Park and Recreation Board, Library Board, Airport Board, and the Mayor Pro-Tem. Currently, she serves on the Southeast Alabama Gas District, Lowndes County Economic Development Commission, South Central Alabama Development Commission, South Central Alabama Transportation Steering Committee, The Alabama Black Mayors Association where she served as the secretary and is currently the Vice President.<\/p><p>With making history in Fort Deposit, Alabama, Jacqulyn Boone was the first female mayor elected as of August 25, 2020, to serve in her community and bring about change. He has worked with the TMCDC staff to promote business development in the country, support improvement of entrance corridors, perform housing rehabilitation, conduct entrepreneurial training, and manage a a community revolving loan fund. As a grant writer, he worked with TUCEP and TMCDC staff to acquire substantial grant funding for community programs. In addition to being member of the Housing &amp; Urban Development (HUD), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), and Community Development Action Coalition (CDAC) national boards, Haygood is also a current member and past president of Alpha Nu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He previously served as President of Southern Community College, Chairman of the Tuskegee Area Health Education Center, as well as past State Vice-President for Alabama New South Coalition. In addition, Mr. Towns is employed by the Dallas County Department of Education as a CNP worker.<\/p><p>Mr. Towns has been married to his adoring bride, Mrs. Loretta Towns, for 38 years. They are the parents of two sons, Roderick Boyd and Connel Towns, Jr. They have two loving grandsons,<br \/>Zion Stevens and Carter Towns.<\/p><p>Mr. Towns is a proud 1978 graduate of Southside High School in Selma, Alabama and Concordia College where he majored in Elementary Education.<\/p><p>A man of faith Mr. Towns is and active member of the Mt. Olive #1 Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as the Chairman of the Board of Deacons.
