{"id":16539,"date":"2015-10-15T22:55:18","date_gmt":"2015-10-15T22:55:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/testv45.demowebsitelinks.com\/ColleenKeane\/?p=16539"},"modified":"2023-09-28T22:56:34","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T22:56:34","slug":"puerco-valley-chapters-still-without-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/testv45.demowebsitelinks.com\/ColleenKeane\/2015\/10\/15\/puerco-valley-chapters-still-without-funds\/","title":{"rendered":"Puerco Valley chapters still without funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Stacy Thacker<\/strong><br \/>\nNavajo Times<\/p>\n<p><strong>WINDOW ROCK<\/strong> \u2014 The Puerco Valley Certified Chapters have reopened their doors to the community but now they are facing another challenge. \u201cWe are operating on zero funds,\u201d said Laura Yazzie, chapter manager at Ts\u00e9 S\u00ed An\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Money for fiscal year 2016 hasn\u2019t been allocated to the Ts\u00e9 S\u00ed An\u00ed and Houck chapters yet, according to chapter managers. Nahata Dziil was in that group until they recently got their money.<\/p>\n<p>This new problem comes a week after the chapters closed because they weren\u2019t insured.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt could be the middle part of October or it could be the end of October,\u201d Yazzie said about getting the funds. But she said that\u2019s just an estimate.<\/p>\n<p>According to Chavez John, acting director of the Division of Community Development, the budget process includes chapters closing out their fiscal 2015 budgets before they start the 2016 budget process.<\/p>\n<p>This is something that Yazzie admits her chapter hasn\u2019t done.<\/p>\n<p>When a chapter closes out their budget then any extra money will carry over to the next year.
