FLAGSTAFF – Alleged Northern Arizona University shooter Steven Edward Jones is headed for a preliminary hearing today on charges of murder and assault.
Three of his alleged victims, juniors at the school, are on the road to recovery after a deadly shooting took place in the campus parking lot of Mountain View Hall on Oct. 9. Another student died in the attack.
That morning, students living on campus awoke to missed calls, text messages and voice mails from their parents and family members who wanted to know if they were safe.
“My family lives in the East Coast and they heard about it before I did,” said Ashlyn Ridout, an NAU sophomore from Gilbert, Ariz. “I was asleep and I got a phone call from my parents wanting to know if I was OK.”
